2009 Goodpasture Cougars Football Camp

Objectives

Goodpasture Football camp is a camp designed for beginning athletes as well as those with a basic knowledge of the game. Expert instruction of the basic skills of offensive and defensive football for boys in grades 1st through 8th will be given.

Each camper will be given individual instruction featuring passing, receiving, running, blocking and tackling. Along with the basic football skills, each camper will be trained in the art of flexibility and weight training which will increase the athlete’s quickness and strength.

Football is a team game and each athlete will be required to run drills in a group setting. This will help individuals learn to cooperate with others.

 

Facilities

The camp is located on the campus of Goodpasture High School. A modern weight room containing equipment for conditioning of champion athletes and access to an athletic trainer.

Cougar stadium features an excellent grass playing surface where the Cougars play.

 

Staff  

David Martin, head football coach, is entering his 18th year at Goodpasture. Coach Martin has lead the Cougars to seventeen consecutive play-off appearances. He has won State Championships in 1995, 1999 and 2001. He has coached 34 All-State players and four Mr. Football Award Winners – Eric Fontenot, Maurice Haynes, Patrick Turner, and Benjamin Cunningham.

 

The staff will also include assistant coaches Andy McWilliams, Marc Purkey, and Scott Ballard, as well as present and former outstanding players.
