Congratulations are due to Hayley Romine and Courtney Wiseman for being selected to the 8-AA All District Girls Basketball Team. Courtney also was honored to make the All-District Tournament Team.

The 2008 Goodpasture Baseball and Softball teams were honored during Goodpasture Night with the Nashville Predators on Tuesday March 24. The teams were presented on ice between the 1st and 2nd periods of the hockey game between the Predators and the Chicago Blackhawks. Congratulations again to these two outstanding teams.

Sherry Tegarden (class of 1995) was inducted into the Belmont Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday February 27. Sherry was instrumental in helping lead Goodpasture to its 1st State Finals appearance in 1994 and helping to set the tone for the directon of the program since. It was her 2-out 2 RBI triple that highlighted the Lady Cougars victory over Brentwood Academy that proved to be the pivotal game in 1994. The following is from a news release earlier this month from Belmont University.

Paige Bailey, a senior at Goodpasture, was involved in a Public Service Announcement that will begin airing on March 9 on ABC - Channel 2. Paige is the class secretary, captain of the girls soccer team, and on the varsity cheerleading squad. In it she speaks about the need to always buckle seat belts while driving or riding in a car. The PSA, sponsered by Allstate Insurance, is aimed at the spring break crowd.

The Goodpasture Christian School gymnasium was the place to be last Saturday night as former basketball coaches and players were honored during halftime of the basketball game. In addition, all current GCS teams were recognized.

This is the first year for our Science Olympiad team. The middle school team competed Saturday in the Regional Finals at Vol State, placing 1st in Robo-Cross, 3rd in Anatomy, and 4th in the Pentathlon.

You might have noticed the renocation signs hanging from the library doors lately. starting in December when we left for Christmas break, the library started a major face life.

This project, that will continue throughout next fall, consist of two phases. The first phase, which is mostly finished, consist of many major cosmetic upgrades. Among the new furniture there are new bookshelves and chairs. The most noticeable changes would be the shelving and computer areas. The library received all new shelves for the books that even have a Cougar painted on the ends. To complement all the new furniture, the walls are now blue. Less noticeable changes would include the new carpet and the new ceiling tiles. While the library was already a great place to study, now it's even better.

The bowling team had a very successful season yet again, becoming district champions for the third time in the past four years. In the district tournament held at Madison Bowl, the Cougars defeated McGavock High School for the championship with an impressive 17-10 win.

Calling all parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends!!! The PTO and Student Council have teamed up for Valentine’s. We will be selling heart shaped Mylar balloons that will be delivered on Friday, February 13th. The cost will be $3 per balloon and there is an area on the order form for a personalized message to be included with your balloon. We will begin taking pre-orders immediately, and will continue to accept orders through the morning of the 13th.
