Football Team Ends Season in the TSSAA Semi-finals

The 2008 Goodpasture football team’s season came to an end in the semi-finals of the TSSAA playoffs with their 28-7 loss to Milan. The team finished with a 9-5 record through a very challenging schedule.

Goodpasture's Benjamin Cunningham named Mr. Football

Senior Benjamin Cunningham was named the Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Class 2A Back for the 2008 football season.  The winner was announced Monday at a luncheon held at the Embassy Suites & Conference Center in Murfreesboro.  Benjamin rushed for a school record 1744 yards and 2357 all purpose yards to go along with his 29 touchdowns on the season.  Benjamin joins Maurice Haynes, Eric Fontenot, and Patrick Turner as the 4th Goodpasture player to win the prestigious award.

Game time is 7 pm - travel time is about 2 1/2 hours. Bring your noise makers and make it a Blue Friday!

 

Goodpasture Football Advances to Semi-Finals

 

 

Goodpasture defeated CPA 35-21 to advance to the TSSAA semi-finals for the 4th consecutive year.

Benjamin Cunningham rushed for 231 yards on 15 carries (15.4 yards/carry) and 3 touchdowns to pace the Cougar attack. The 2A Mr. Football nominee also returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown.

Goodpasture will now travel to Milan, a 51-28 winner over Jackson Christian, on Friday November 28 @ 7:00 with the winner advancing to the Blue Cross Bowl on Friday December 5.

Bowling Team Finishes Regular Season Strong

The bowling team completed the regular season matches this week with a record of 12-2. The weeks wins were against Pope John Paul II and Hunters Lane. In addition, the Cougars had an extremely close match against McGavock. The district tournament will be at December 2-4 at Oak Valley Lanes and Madison Bowl. Goodpasture is the 2nd seeded team in our 7-team district.

Josh Duncan led the Cougars this year with a regular season average of 192. The other starters' bowling averages are: Jacob Botts (173), Collin Bradley (162), Joshua Kim's (161), Jacob Kwak (149), and David Keum (141).

Kelsey Sauer Signs to Bucknell

Goodpasture's Kelsey Sauer Signs to Bucknell Star volleyball player Kelsey Sauer just signed with Bucknell University. She has been a huge asset to the Goodpasture Lady Cougar volleyball team throughout her career. A starter since her 8th grade year, this year she led the Lady Cougars with 58 aces, 323 digs, and 275 kills.

Kelsey is Buckell's number one recruit for the Libero position, a specialized defensive player. We are very proud of Kelsey's accomplishments and wish her the best of luck in the future.

Goodpasture Football Earns Playoff Re-match with CPA

The Goodpasture football team will travel to CPA for a TSSAA Quarter-Final matchup that will be a repeat of the Region 5A championship game that CPA won 21-10 in week 10 of the regular season. CPA enters the game with playoff victories over Hickman County 49-14 and Fairview 14-7. The Cougars have playoff wins over Stewart County 56-28 and Lewis County 28-21.

The Cougars have won 5 of the past 6 games with the Lions. Gametime is 7:00 p.m at CPA. Click here for directions

Cartwright Signs to Auburn

GHS Cartwright signs to play softball for Auburn

Goodpasture's Kelsey Cartwright, member of the 2008 Softball State Championship team, signed with Auburn University Nov. 12, 2008. Kelsey is a key infielder of the past 4 years; in the '08 season she led the plate hitting .580 with 14 homeruns, 55 runs scored & 56 RBI's. She, with her teammates, have captured the State Championship for the past six years in a row.

Kelsey has attended Goodpasture since Kindergarten, has a younger sister in 8th grade, and her parents, Bill & Tracy Cartwright, are both alumni of GCS. She has also played basketball at Goodpasture, contributing 12.9 pts. per game. In softball, she was chosen to the All-Midstate softball team in 2008.

View Larger Map Cougar Fans will caravan to the football game at Stewart Co. tomorrow. We plan to leave from school around 3:30, stop in Clarksville to eat, then proceed to Dover, TN for the game.
