Many parents wonder what they can do to help their child have a happy and successful year in school. The following is a list so some things you may want to work on at home.
- read to and with your child often
- listening to and repeating nursery rhymes
- naming shapes, colors, letters, and numerals
- listening and following directions
- carrying out responsibilities at home
- sharing and taking turns
- learn name, address, phone number, parents’ names and places of work
- sticking with tasks until they are completed
- snap, button, zip, take off, and put on outer clothing without help
- counting to 20
- using blunt-tip scissors with good control
- conversation skills - ask questions that require more than one word answers
- listening to stories and retelling them in sequence
- keeping up with personal belongings
