Goodpasture Christian School offers a tutorial program for students desiring supplemental academic support. ROAR includes tutoring and enrichment services for elementary, middle school, and high school students. Both individual and small-group tutoring sessions are provided in each content area. Parents may choose to have a child tutored weekly or several times a week.
ROAR is beneficial to several distinct groups of students. All the following children can certainly profit from either the private or the small group tutorials: Students needing reinforcement in classroom instruction; those needing assistance with skill and concept mastery; middle school children needing help studying for tests and exams; high school students needing assistance with overall study/organizational skills and/or time management; students who have had a prolonged absence; students needing help with daily homework; and also students who desire academic enrichment.
The program coordinator is Billy Seal. Mr. Seal tutors and also teaches STEM Lab at Goodpasture. ROAR tutors include a variety of current and former teachers of all grades levels. ROAR uses a team approach, understanding it is a joint between student, parents, teachers and tutors that assists in overall success!
ROAR tutoring sessions have the benefits of being held on campus, either during or after school. The cost of the tutorial service is more reasonable than the current rate for private tutoring. Parents sign a contract and pay the school monthly for the tutoring sessions. During the initial consultation with parents, specifics of the contract and complete cost information will be discussed. Parents are financially responsible for unexcused missed sessions. Of course, occasionally school activities may interfere with a student’s normal ROAR session. Any missed sessions due to school activities will be “made up” per tutor’s discretion.
ROAR began at Goodpasture in 2007, and parent response has been very positive.
“We feel very blessed to have our son part of the ROAR Program. He is excited about working with his tutor, and it has enhanced his education experience!”
“I don’t believe my son would have passed several subjects without ROAR. The program took a lot of stress out of our home with homework and studying for tests!”
To enroll your child in ROAR, please complete the contract (attched at bottom) and return it to the appropriate school office.
