The theater program at Goodpasture allows students to learn about and experience everything that goes into stage productions through a variety of curricula. These courses ensure that high school students have options available to fulfill Fine Arts credit requirements and include Theater I-IV, and Technical Theater. (Scroll down for course descriptions.)
Our annual theater productions include a fall play with auditions open for high school students and a spring musical with auditions open to all ages. Audiences are delighted with true Broadway-style productions. Past productions have included:
The Sound of Music | Oklahoma | Beauty and the Beast The Addams Family | Matilda | Charlie & the Chocolate Factory Annie Jr. | Cinderella | Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr.
Theater Course Descriptions
Theater I is an introductory theater class that covers the history of theater, improvisation, the GOTE acting method, and monologue and duet performances.
Theater II introduces students to different acting techniques and offers unique opportunities to display those skills. Past projects have included murder mystery shows, shorts festivals, and lip dub videos.
Technical Theater is a hands-on class for juniors and seniors. Students gain an understanding of the elements of design and how they are applied in sets, lights, costumes, and makeup. In addition to in-class projects, students spend class time designing, building, and painting sets for our school productions.
