  • Winter Guard

Winter guard is heralded as the “Sport of the Arts.” Winter guard is an indoor activity as opposed to fall guard/marching band. It mainly consists of two physical elements (equipment and dance) and is carefully choreographed to a recorded soundtrack. The other elements include incorporating the costume and individual expression to reflect the music or the emotion of the show and props to set the stage. Referred to as the “Sport of the Arts”, Winter Guard combines the elements of music, dance, and military-like precision. It is a performance art in which guard members perform a choreographed routine using flags, sabers, and rifles. At Goodpasture Christian School, this activity is an audition-based group that runs from November to early April.
