Studies have shown a strong relationship between music lessons and
high performance in other subjects.

The Mission of the Goodpasture Band Program is to diversify students' music education through a variety of different experiences that support our school and community through Respect, Discipline, Excellence, Consistency and Musicality.

The Goodpasture Band Program has a long history of excellence in music education. Goodpasture students frequently participate in All-State and Mid-State Honor Bands, Concert Performance Assessment, SEPA Solo and Ensemble, Spring Musical (Orchestra), Jazz Band, Pep Band, Marching Band, Chamber Ensemble, and Private Lessons.

Band Ensembles

List of 2 items.

  • Middle School Band

    6th Grade Band
6th Grade Beginning Band is where students begin their instrumental music education. Students will pick, with guidance, the instrument they want to play and start down the path of musical discovery.

    7th / 8th Grade Band
7th and 8th Grade Band is for students that have completed a year of 6th Grade Beginning Band. This is a continuation of their instrumental music education where they will expand upon their knowledge and learn more advanced skills.
  • High School Band

    HS Wind Ensemble
High School Wind Ensemble class consists of students in grades 9-12. This ensemble is where students get to take their musicianship to the next level and start studying and performing high level music.

    Percussion
Percussion Class is a class designed to provide more attention to the needs of our percussionist in our band program. With having to play multiple instruments, we use this time as a way to develop skills in multiple percussive categories, not just one.

    Marching Cougars
The Goodpasture Marching Cougars serve as a source of school spirit and community support. The Marching Cougars perform at football games, pep rallies, parades and other school events. This group is an extracurricular activity that consists of students grade 7-12. In the past, the Marching Cougars have won 15 Tennessee State Marching Band Championships.

    AP Music Theory
AP Music theory is a course designed to educate students on the construction and composition of music. It trains students in both written and aural skills in order to provide them with a more diverse background in different areas of music.
