Goodpasture Christian School Names Director of Advancement

Adam Sonn Selected to Lead the Newly Formed Advancement Department

Madison, Tennessee. Goodpasture Christian School President, Dr. Jeff Bixenman, announced today the appointment of Adam Sonn as Director of Advancement. In this role, Sonn will be responsible for creating strategies and programs that align with and support the school’s strategic plan and initiatives.

“The creation of an Advancement Department goes beyond traditional development activities. As its name suggests, the Advancement Department will be responsible for advancing and promoting GCS through philanthropy and community relationship building,” stated Dr. Bixenman. He continued, “I am confident of Adam’s abilities and look forward to working with him in this capacity. Having this team in place will help ensure Goodpasture Christian School will be equipped and able to provide Christian education to future generations of students.”

Speaking of a ‘team’, Sonn is a familiar name in middle Tennessee basketball circles, and beyond. He played high school basketball for Donelson Christian Academy where he was awarded Mr. Basketball during his senior year. Sonn continued playing for Belmont University where, among his awards, he was named Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year (2003) and was inducted into the Belmont University Athletic Hall of Fame (2015). His basketball days continued overseas, playing for teams in Belgium, France, Holland, Sweden, and Spain.

Sonn’s relationship with Goodpasture Christian School began in 2012 when he was hired as the Boys’ Varsity Head Basketball Coach. The GCS boys’ basketball program has had unprecedented success for many years. In recent years, GCS teams have become a known entity at the state tournament, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the teams and coaching staff.

As Director of Advancement, Sonn will be leaving his role as basketball coach. However, he will be drawing upon the same skillset, leading the newly formed Advancement team that includes alumni relations, admissions, and marketing. “I am grateful for the opportunity and challenge this new role presents,” stated Sonn. The Board of Directors and President Bixenman are continually seeking to advance our school community to ensure its vision, mission, and beliefs are sustainable. I appreciate their commitment to GCS,” Sonn went on to say.
